Hw # 39

Questions

1. When did school become free?

2. Do we really have the choice to go to any school?

3. How do society and school connect?

Ideas

1. Education is viewed highly, reason why those with more education usually get the better & well paid job.

2. Grades are important in school but for some it gets in the way of their social life. And vice versa.

3. the idea of having life skills maybe not as a core class but a regular class. So can have the balance of a practical class and a relevant class all in one day.

Experiences

1 . To be seen as smart in class but also in hallway are equally important especially in high school. But not to try too hard or else will be seen as a nerd or fake.

2. Learning to listen to authority, because your always being told you are not an adult yet, but even when you are, not as experienced as the older adult.

3. Your actions in school are what make you the "bad kid" or "good student" teachers and students will see you as this until you graduate.

Part B:

The aspect of going to school for most of your life, never having the choice to learn what one wants can be irritating. Not that everything I've learned I haven't enjoyed, for example I might not get the relevance of algebra in real life. But i actually enjoy and find it easy to solve problems. Or in history I like learning about different cultures but we usually study about the wars and revolutions, why?

When ask teachers how what we are learning will be useful in the future they get annoyed and tell us because its important. But why is it important? there probably answers to this but if one knows what wants to study why do we must waste years learning instead of starting career or traveling instead.
